Abstract Art
Charlie Smith is an abstract artist of exquisite precision and refinement. His artwork balances form and shape alongside colour, tone and grey scale.
Working in gouache, ink and pencil, largely on paper, his work is trying to be sincerely abstract, but frequently is a deconstruction of still-lifes, or everyday objects broken down into line and form against various relationships of colour.
Inspired by many art styles, from modern British, Constructivism and the Vorticists movements, the flow of images and angles from the Machine Age to the Russian Supremacists, I find great inspiration in many styles and movements of 20th Century art.
